Sodimate dosing systems are installed in different treatment processes of potable water and desalination or residual.
Nixtamalización
Since pre-Hispanic times, Mexico has been a major consumer of corn tortilla, being the “nixtamalización” (cooking of corn with water and lime), one of the indispensables processes for its elaboration, this process allows the grain softening and calcium fixation. In Sodimate, we can dose lime directly into powder to the required point or prepare the grouts automatically to feed cooking systems.
Mining
Mining is one of the industries where more lime is used and where Sodimate systems are most commonly used. Lime slurries can be created thanks to our fully automated preparation vats, reagent dosage is made from Silo, Big Bag stand or Bag hopper. These slurries are used for heavy metals precipitation and separation processes. Apart such slurries help us to neutralize acids used in this type of mines.
Oil (Petroleum)
Sodimate systems are also used in the oil industry, especially in quicklime dosing and lime hydration, as well as making slurries for petroleum refining process. Other uses of Sodimate systems are lime dosing for lubricating greases manufacture, gases desulfurization and the creation of slurries for water treatment. The systems are completely customized to the customer, adapting to any special requirements.
Paper
Sodimate’s dry chemical storage and feed systems have a variety of applications in the pulp and paper industry for the feeding of powdered additives. One of the most common dry chemicals handled is Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) a chemical used as a thickening agent and used to improve paper smoothness and strength, as well as to help reduce dust emission. Starch is another common dry chemical handled in the pulp and paper industry, primarily for improved paper strength, dewatering, and surface sizing.
Sodimate systems can also be used for sawdust handling and in the pollution control and waste processing stages of pulp and paper production to treat air, wastewater and sludge. Treatment systems may be used to handle activated carbon, lime, and polymers.
Glass
Sodimate’s storage, discharge and feed system can be used to handle silica sand for the production of various glasses and industrial castings. A typical handling system includes a storage container (silo, hopper or big bag), a mechanical discharger, and a screw feeder and conveyor. The systems can be fully customized for different storage needs, feed rates and the required number of injection points.
Sodimate systems can also be used to treat air pollution emissions created in the manufacturing process, including sulfur oxides (SOX), nitrogen oxides (NOX), and heavy metals such as arsenic and lead. Two of the most commonly used reagents for treating the emissions, hydrated lime and soda ash, are easily handled by Sodimate’s dry sorbent injection systems.
Aquaculture, fish and shrimp farms
Aquaculture Farms where there are crustaceans, molluscs or fish, both freshwater or saltwater, are another industry in which Sodimate systems can be very useful.
Normally, lime slurries are used for organic matter control and virus elimination. Decreasing mortality, accelerating their growth and making their shells stronger. On the other hand lime also helps to stabilize the muds of the bottom of the ponds.
Sugar Industry
In sugar mills, lime slurries are created and used for alkalizing and as a precipitant of mineral and organic impurities, this allows them to clarify and refine the sugar effectively. A part of lime is also used for the water conditioning in boilers and vinasse neutralization. Thanks to Sodimate’s shutdown systems, it is possible to create slurries from lime oxide directly, achieving an efficiency at 95% off.
Industry’s Gas Treatments
For a wide variety of industries, such as cement, steel and oil, Sodimate is focused on combustion gases treatment generated in its furnaces. Normally different powdered reagents such as activated carbon or lime are dosed to facilitate harmful particles removal, thus avoiding acid rain generation, which brings environment consequences
Others
Other industries in which Sodimate equipment usage is effective, both for dosing powdered reagents or in the form of slurries are the following:
- Painting and waterproofing
- Rubber
- Iron and steel industry
- Chemicals
- Tannery
- Food Industry
- Plastic Industry
- Asphalt
